The Chancel Choir regularly supports worship services on Sundays from the Sunday after Labor Day through the Day of Pentecost. The choir also sings for most of the special liturgies during the year including Christmas Eve, Maundy Thursday, the Great Vigil of Easter and Choral Evensong. Occasionally some members of the choir form a smaller ensemble to sing Compline at chosen times during the year. The choir is open to middle and high school age adults through seniors. The primary rehearsal is held on Thursday evening from 7:30-9:00 p.m. On Sunday morning the choir meets at 9:45 a.m. for a rehearsal before the worship service.
The choir welcomes new members at any time. The first rehearsal for Fall 2016 is September 1st.
HANDBELLS - FESTIVAL RINGERS
St. Andrew’s Handbell Choir was formed in April of 2008 after a 3 octave set of Malmark bells was purchased with memorial funds. The handbell choir rings in worship 7-8 times during the year. Rehearsals are held on Thursdays from 6:15-7:15 p.m. Occasionally the group meets on Monday or Tuesday evening. Those trained commit to ringing for a known set of weeks; so personnel varies slightly each term depending on individual schedules. The church owns and uses a 3 octave set of Malmark choirchimes as well, both with the members of the handbell choir and the Grace Notes.
REGENT STRING ENSEMBLE
St. Andrew's is fortunate to have many in the parish who play violin, viola and cello. This group will come together approximately 3 times per year to rehearse hymns and string voluntaries for use in selected liturgies. The ensemble was started in Spring 2017 and will continue to develop.
Grace Notes meets on Sunday mornings from 9:15-9:30 a.m. when Christian formation is scheduled. This is a time for children in our Faith Garden and Coolios church school classes to learn songs and specific music concepts, and be introduced to themes focused around the calendar of the Liturgical Church Year. The students annually prepare songs to be sung in the annual pageant on Christmas Eve. The students will sing songs for 3 other liturgies during the program year; once in Fall, Winter (January or February) and Spring.
REGENT RECORDER ENSEMBLE
The recorder ensemble plays in worship usually 3 times per year. There is not a regular rehearsal schedule, but members meet based on agreed times 2-3 weeks prior to a scheduled play date. Occasionally the recorder players may also combine with the Regent String Ensemble.
