Try to identify a place in your home that you will regularly see, but that will not be needed to hold other items. A few ideas include a side table, top of a book shelf or desk. If space is limited consider a pop-up sacred space that can be set up as desired. Ultimately, place it in an area of your home that will allow you to feel calm and focused.
WHAT TO INCLUDE
The simple answer to the question of what to include in your sacred space are items and images that draw you into God's presence! There is no right or wrong or less holy sacred space!
Some common items could be a candle and cross.
Our church buildings consist of three centers: the table (altar), font, and ambo (pulpit). They are represent the three central image we gather around as the body of Christ - baptism, the Eucharist, and the Word of God. Consider how you might reflect these centers in your space.
Other items could include art, something from nature, something to hold - endless possibilities! Invite the whole household to participate. Ask children what reminds them of God; what makes them feel loved?
