November 21, 2021
It's that time of year where we as the people of St. Andrew's begin to prepare for our Annual Meeting - a time where we both look back on the past year in the life of St. Andrew's and look forward to what the next year might hold.
A significant part of this moment is the electing leadership for the year ahead (2022). On November 21st, we will gather to elect a Senior Warden, Junior Warden, three Vestry members, four deputies to Diocesan Convention and a member of the Endowment Committee (time and format to be announced at a later date).
It takes a village to raise a child. It takes a community to be and to lead a church. St. Andrew's, like all Episcopal Churches, elects leaders to help us follow God's calling to us to be the Body of Christ at 1833 Regent Street.
It is because we, you, have stepped forward to take your place in the councils of this church, that we have been a beacon on the hill here in Madison since 1914. And it is because we, you, are willing to step forward in this time, that we will continue to be that vital, spirit filled community that gathers three blocks west of Camp Randall Stadium to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ to a broken and hurting world!
Please spend some time in prayer and discernment, asking yourself if you are being called to step forward as we move into this next season in the life of the church. At the same time, ask if there are people you know, maybe the person who sat next to you last week, who might be wrestling with that call, and need your encouragement to answer with an enthusiastic Yes!
There is a voting and eligibility list below. Check to see who is eligible to run, and then fill out the nominating form, also below. Don't be shy. Nominate yourself. Pick up the phone and call the person who was sitting next to you last week, and ask them if they would think and pray about running for a position of leadership at St. Andrew's. Ask them if you can nominate them, and then send the nominating for in to the church! We will be accepting nominations through October 7th.
