Children's Sunday Morning Programs
Sunday mornings September 15, 2019, through May 17, 2020, we offer multiple opportunities for your children three years old through 5th grade to grow in faith through worship, music, learning, and fellowship. Christian formation for 6th-12th graders is offered through the youth program.
You won't want to miss any of the activities coming up, so please fill out a registration form and put it in the Children's Ministries mailbox next to the parish office, or mail or email it. Families registering for the first time will receive a mealtime prayer cube with six prayers!
Please join us at any point Sunday morning:
8:00 Said Eucharist
9:15 Grace Notes – chancel (altar area of sanctuary)
9:30 Church School – classrooms (see below)
10:15 Sunday Snack – parish hall & Coolios classroom
10:30 Choral Eucharist
11:45 Coffee Hour – parish hall
Worship is our principal form of Christian formation for all ages. Children are welcome at our Eucharist services. If your children need to occupy their hands during worship, they are welcome to choose a worship bag from the narthex (our foyer). Bags with tags contain a book suitable for pre-readers and early readers. Bags without tags include a book suitable for elementary readers. All baptized Christians of any age are invited to receive communion.
Grace Notes (9:15-9:30): Our Music Director, Ken Stancer, leads 15 minutes of joyful song that just may include instruments. Families meet up around the organ to sing together.
We have two church school classes (9:30-10:15):
- The Faith Garden class (downstairs next to the nursery) welcomes young children comfortable in a classroom setting, from three-year-olds through first-graders. The seeds of our faith are nurtured through Bible stories and parables presented through storytelling with wooden figures and other props. Children enter the story imaginatively, ponder it together, and respond creatively.
- The Coolios class engages 2nd- through 5th-graders with active learning that draws on different interests and learning styles. Cooking, art, movies, games, and drama invite kids to explore Bible stories from different angles. The Coolios room is off the downstairs hallway behind the kitchen.
Sunday Snack (10:15-10:25) keeps the kids going with a nutritious snack. Faith Garden kids come to the parish hall while Coolios stay in their classroom. Children are also welcome at coffee hour following the 10:30 service.
