ALL PARISH LENTEN STUDY
During Lent all at St. Andrew’s are invited to read Vicki Black’s Welcome to Anglican Spiritual Traditions. Organized around the vows of the Baptismal Covenant, this book provides a meaty overview of Christianity as understood and practiced in the Episcopal Church. It’s both a through introduction and a good review offering information on scripture, theology, worship, church history, spiritual practices and social justice.
There will be two opportunities to meet with others and discuss what you are reading: Sunday mornings from 9:15 – 10:15 and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 – 7:30. Each week the content of the Sunday and Wednesday classes will be the same so you can participate on either Sunday or Wednesday as best fits your schedule. The program will begin during the first full week of Lent (2/22-28) and continue through the following four weeks of Lent.
Participating in one of these studies will serve as preparation for parents who wish to have a child baptized during the Easter season and for adults who wish to be confirmed or received into the Episcopal Church when Bishop Gunter visits St. Andrew’s on April 19. (If you cannot participate in the class, talk with Mother Lynne.)
Copies of the book are available in the narthex and in the library area of the fellowship hall if you want to take a look. The book is available on Kindle, our library will have a few copies for loan, and we will order you a copy of our own if you let Jill, our parish administrator, know by February 8.
