"The Watch"In the drama of Holy week Jesus is arrested and taken from us on Maundy Thursday. That night, after we celebrate the Eucharist, we “strip” the altar, removing all adornments from the chancel, and take a small amount of consecrated bread and wine, Jesus’s presence among us, into the chapel to wait until Good Friday. In response to Jesus’ question in the Garden of Gethsemane, “Could you not keep awake one hour?” we keep watch with Jesus, in one-hour shifts, all though the night, until Good Friday morning at 9:00. You may sign up here. and there is a sign-up sheet posted in the narthex. Please sign up for a one-hour block. We hope for two or three people for each hour. |
