Music Ministries

At St. Andrew's we pride ourselves in having a robust music ministry that is rooted in the Anglican tradition. We have been blessed to be a parish with countless musicians who continuously offer their gifts and talents to our shared worship.

Music Ensembles

CHANCEL CHOIR
The Chancel Choir regularly supports worship services through the academic calendar year in addition to singing for special liturgies including Christmas Eve and Holy Week.  The choir also is involved in offering Choral Evensong several times during the program year.  Rehearsals are Thursdays from 7:30-9:00 p.m.

FESTIVAL RINGERS
St. Andrew’s Handbell Choir was formed in April of 2008 after a 3 octave set of Malmark bells was purchased with memorial funds.  The handbell choir rings in worship 7-8 times during the year. Rehearsals take place on Thursdays from 6:15 - 7:15 p.m.

REGENT RECORDER ENSEMBLE
St. Andrew's is the venue for members and other Madison area recorder enthusiasts to rehearse.  We meet on 2nd, 4th and 5th Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. The group may occasionally perform for an event, offer a concert, or participate in selected liturgies at St. Andrew's.

REGENT INSTRUMENTAL ENSEMBLE
We are always looking for those who play violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet, saxophone, oboe, bassoon, trumpet, french horn and trombone.  If we have enough to do so we would like to form a church orchestra to perform at selected liturgies.

LEARN TO PLAY AN INSTRUMENT (?)
If you would like to learn to play recorder, handchimes or handbells or ukulele, we can form some small groups and schedule a time to learn together. Open to elementary age students through senior adults.

For more information, or to join one of our ensembles,  please contact  Music Director, Ken Stancer at [email protected].

On July 23rd, 2020, our pipe organ turned 20 years old.  To celebrate our music director, Ken Stancer, created a video series featuring the history and features of the organ paired with beloved music of our parish. Click here to watch!

The Pipe Organ
St. Andrew’s Taylor and Boody  (Opus 33) tracker action pipe organ of 21 ranks of pipes was installed in 2000. The organ represents the finest in craftsmanship and utilizes principals of construction that have been held in high regard in organ building for hundreds of years. The quality of the organ’s musical sound makes it one of the finest in Madison, Wisconsin, the state, and the nation.
