Monthly InGathering
Each month the community at St. Andrew's works to raise funds for various organizations and causes in the greater Madison area that promote the well being of our neighbors. Past InGathering recipients have included the Cherokee Heights Middle School Food Pantry, The Road Home, and The African American Council of Churches Madison. Recipients are designated by the St. Andrew's Outreach Committee.
Current InGathering Recipient: Building Economic Stability
In July we have been invited to contribute to the building of economic stability for a young, Black entrepreneur and community leader as he launches a new barber shop on Madison's East Side. Below is a portion of the letter we received from Pastor Adam Clausen of Life Center Madison:

Dear Friend of Life Center Madison,
It is with great joy that I write to you announcing an exciting new partnership and initiative! Life Center Madison has been working with one of its members, Harry Bernard III, a church youth group and Madison Metro School District (MMSD) alum, and a young, Black entrepreneur as he officially launches his barbershop, Life Style Hair Care. Harry’s remarkable personal journey has taken him from the streets as a Gangster Disciples’ member to a married, father of four, MMSD employee, and now small business owner. We believe that empowering and funding economic agency through entrepreneurial endeavors from and to historically marginalized communities, is a key component of reparations, a key to restoring the dignity and economic stability of Black/Indigenous/People of Color (BIPOC) families, and a key to creating sustainable, generational wealth.
Harry’s success story has continued as he was recently selected as a grant recipient from MMSD’s “Big Idea Campaign” for his pitch to create a barbershop mentorship and apprenticeship program at East High School.
