Our Community Partners
Over the years St. Andrew's has sought to open it's doors to the surrounding community to provide gathering space, build partnerships and further God's mission in Madison.
St Andrew's is partnering with OwnIt to reduce the intergenerational Wealth Gap between Black and white families in Madison.
About the ProgramOWN IT: Building Black Wealth is a private sector network of Madison area professionals in the real estate, banking, financial industries. We are working to empower, educate, and guide communities of color towards homeownership, wealth, and financial freedom. We acknowledge the systemic racism embedded within financial systems, practices, and policies, and we are committed to exposing and eradicating these structural barriers.

There's More that we Can Do!
Help OWN IT by writing a letter or email!
St. Andrew’s has done amazing work to educate ourselves about the issues of housing inequity and the intergenerational wealth gap between white families and families of color. We have worked on these issues since the Vestry identified the need to address racism in Madison in 2020. We donated over $24,000 to Roots, LLC. We also donated $15,000 to OWN IT: Building Black Wealth, enough to fund a down payment assistance grant for one family. As of July 30, 2023, OWN IT has awarded 15 down payment assistance grants and 9 families have closed on their first homes.
Now you can help in another way: write a letter to educate realtors and lenders about the work of OWN IT! If you see a FOR SALE sign in your neighborhood, write down the name of the selling realtor and the realty company. Send a letter or email to the realtor and their company, making them aware of OWN IT and inviting them to participate as an ambassador of the program. St. Andrew’s developed emails to realtors, realty companies and lenders, in cooperation with OWN IT, and those emails are available in the link below. The templates contain links to information about OWNIT and will help realtors, realty agencies, and mortgage lenders learn more about the programs. If, when you send an email, you cc [email protected] OWNIT will follow up with additional information and an opportunity for the recipient of you email to be in conversation. Before you write to someone, please check this list on the OWNIT website. If the person/organization to whom you would like to write is already on the list, refrain from sending them one of these emails.
Please participate in this effort to educate real estate professionals about the good work being done by OWN IT.
